Summer Wine

From the Caidian Songbook

Strawberries, cherries, and an angel’s kiss in spring.
My summer wine is really made from all these things.
Take off your silver spurs and let us pass the time,
And I will bring to you summer wine,
Oh, summer wine.

I came upon her on my way down from Seville.
Her eyes were dark as night her heart was darker still.
She cast her spell on me and offered me her time,
And fed and gave me drink – Summer wine
Oh, summer wine.

Strawberries, cherries, and an angel’s kiss in spring,
My summer wine is really made from all these things.
Take off your silver spurs and let us pass the time,
And I will bring to you, summer wine,
Oh, summer wine.

A knight of noble birth and courtly grace am I,
Skilled in the sword and lance and not afraid to die.
Yet she enchanted me and took from me my mind –
And kept and gave me craving for Summer Wine,
Oh, summer wine.

Strawberries, cherries and an angel’s kiss in spring,
My summer wine is really made from all these things.
Take off your silver spurs and let us pass the time,
And I will bring to you, summer wine.
Oh, summer wine.

The night grew long and clandle light began to dim.
Her final dance was done her song came to an end.
She came to lay by me and bade me one more time
To take a final sip of Summer Wine,
Oh, Summer wine.

Strawberries, cherries and an angel’s kiss in spring,
My summer wine is really made from all these things.
Take off your silver spurs and let us pass the time,
And I will bring to you, summer wine.
Oh, summer wine.

When I awoke the sun was shining in my eye
My silver spurs were gone, my head was twice it’s size,
She took my silver spurs, my gold and precious time
And left me yearing for Summer wine,
Oh, summer wine.

Strawberries, cherries and an angel’s kiss in spring,
My summer wine is really made from all these things.
Take off your silver spurs and let us pass the time,
And I will bring to you, summer wine.
Oh, summer wine.
